Jimi Hendrix Report Abuse
Do we REALLY have to discuss this? If we must, then consider HOW the electric guitar is now played by most electric guitar players today, of all genres. Well, he initiated the styles and capabilities that most people can outdo him on NOW. But, he was good at these skills at the onset (tremelo, wah-wah, fuzzface, feedback, use of studio as a guitar enhancer, etc.). You get the point. He was the unadulrated best guitarist of any generation given what he had to work with. Anyone that can outdo him with the instrument had a headstart he never had. And he is still considered to be among the best even by people who are sometimes ranked better than him. JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX #1, baby.

Comments:
Sad fact of most guitar players today. Ist't it time to upgrade something. Let's leave distant past behind us. Yah but revolutionary 60' are behind and today conservative minds can only reject something new. But of course jimi was top of his time.

Jimmy Page Report Abuse
Jimmy could just flat out play. He is technically sound and can use the guitar to express such a wide range of emotions. He can even play it like a violin. The boy is bad. Plus, he could play it hung low. YEAH, baby.

Alvin Lee Report Abuse
Alvin Lee was a blazing fast, bluesy, creative guitarist for the underrated band Ten Years After. His performance at Woodstock is legendary. Jimi Hendrix knew Alvin and considered him very favorably. He's not a top 5 type, but he certainly belongs somewhere near the top 10-12, for sure!
