I want to do tennis, but I don't know if it's the right thing for me.

I'm 13... thinking of starting tennis... don y'know any places near me but I might research

what about going from gymnastics to tennis, I am 12 and have been in gymnastics for a loooong time, I'm on the short side but pretty strong, I have a shorter arm span too.

Started tennis when I was 7 and I really pressured myself because I wanted to be the BEST. I was the top of my class and I still wanted to be better than myself. Soon this dude came along and he was better than me, I'm 14 now and I stopped 2 years ago because I thought I wasn't good. I regret it everyday, it was so much fun and I wanna go back so bad. My old coach told me that he knew I'd wanna go back because He knew I wouldn't give it up that easily. I lost my confidence and I lost my skills in tennis two... I mean 2 years for not playing AT ALL really did affect my skills and I'm constantly kicking myself because of it. NEVER QUIT SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH 💗

Tennis is perfect for any age. I know people say you can catch up with gymnastics when your 13 but if you have never done dance or cheer or anything that gives you flexibility you won't be able to walk and s good as everyone else. But tennis you can start any age and it's really grest

i’m thinking about quitting gymnastics after this next season. i’m a level 9 competitive, and it’s getting unenjoyable. i also think i’m someone who doesn’t like to be on a team or compete. but i say go for it! it’s honestly an amazing sport, but just not for me anymore. :)

I was on a Gold team for a year after switching from levels. Gymnastics is a lot of commitment, also it’s way to stressful exspecially after coming back from an injury. I quit sometimes I regret it but I’m a lot happier now.

I am a Platinum gymnast ( level 7 ) and I started when I was 11 years old. ! am 15 now. Everybody that thinks that if they start late, you won't get good at gymnastics. I did. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!

I'm 13 and I love gymnastics, I've always wished to be really good but I'm just average, I've just started lessons and I love them, I do them on Mondays and now Monday is my favourite day, i know that I will never be really good because 13 is too old to start, I watch the 6 year olds in my gym in envy and I bet they don't even know how lucky they are xxxxx

i did gymnastics since i was 4 im 15 and i quit this year i broke my wrist my ankle fractured my back and much more loved it for a while dont hesitate to try it but know you will struggle with new skills coaches the mean kids stress of skills not being good enough and i promise your joints will never be the same i feel like a fifty year old lady lol

Gymnasts are perfectionists and overly peppy.they also have VERY high standards in what you are doing.over all they are very judgey

I love Gymnastics! I enjoy doing flips and learning new tricks like the splits and back bend. It really improved my balance, strength and flexibility. Sadly I had to be taken out a few months after I started. :( but I will be joining again in a few months! Yay! :)

For everyone to know, you can start gymnastics at any age and advance quickly (As I saw some people write.) It I a great sport to do and definitely one of my absolute favourites! Some people even practice at home and at some point join a gym! But if you decide to do gymnastics at home, do the easy skills and then move up! I did gymnastics at home for maybe a year and I was pretty good... Everyone should try gymnastics!

I was 4 when I started. At gymnastics I was always outgoing and fearless, always the one that tried the new flip first, and I was sort of the leader, but at school I was, and still am, timid and quiet. It's not the real me, and when I had to stop gymnastics at the age of 13, due to money problems, my life fell apart. It was such a huge constant in my life and now that it was gone I was different. I made friends with this energy draining girl that I normally would have avoided and I just really miss gymnastics. I miss my friends and being able to just talk about anything to them and how they would listen. My friends at school don't listen. They tell me I'm too nice, all the time. It's annoying and untrue. I'm just a moody *****.

Gymnastics isn't that great for me but if you are flexible and hard working it would be good for you.

Had a serious injury in gym and have had ops and been on crutches loads. A high injury sport don't play unless you don't mind a lot of pain.

Thee have been many great female swimmes such as Rebecca Adlington, Katie Ledecky and Summer Mcintosh, the latte hails from Canada who could take tthe sport to even greater heights.

So i learned to swim and my coach was a swimmer who has gotten 3 medals and i asked to races with 3 others i came in 2nd she came in 1st haha i was right behind her tho they told me join and i did it was sooo swim some skills are hard but just practice and u might get tired ofc but stretch and take a nap i really recommend this!

I compete in swimming, I've been doing it ever since I was 4 and have been going 3 times a week, i used to love it but it does get boring and I don't see the point for example with gymnastics you can do it anywhere you go but with swimming it's not a sport you can show and you can't just do it around the street, I would recommend for you to do it but not as the main sport you would want to do xx

It is a awesome life skill, you go up against other people and you don't have to worry what place you get in at swimming competitions, it just matters if you have fun! I've been swimming on a competitive team for about 3 years now and I have to say, it is truly amazing.

Swimming is seriously a good as sport. Your going up against yourself and it's good for those who aren't comfortable in a team such as basetball. Your a one man show and it's great for girls too who want to build up their confidence in their abilities!

I've been a swimmer since I was 7 and it was amazing up until now. Practices are hard and strenuous if you do it then you have to be committed, I'm talking five days a week for two hours. So if you do it be prepared I quit because it wasn't fun anymore. Im not saying swimming's bad just be prepared. I even still get jealous when I see anything about swimming. Heck swimming was my life so if to get involved think it through

Swim and cheer are both my favorite sports. Im in swim team and its so much fun. Ive dedicated my time to go to swim meets and practices instead of going to gymnastics, ice stating, track, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, etc You meet so many new people even when you are new and know nobody there. The other people are very nice and sweet. As a worlds champion in cheer, and national competitor in swim, i'd recommend this sport. *ps - great sport to take out any anger out by racing faster in relay practices :)

I'm an Aussie girl who's 14 and since I was 12 and I was in the school volleyball team I have been obsessed with it since, around the house you'd see me hitting a ball constantly knocking things over... oops! Haha but honestly it really is a fun sport and it does hurt your arms and your hands depending how you hit the ball. I once fractured my thumb because of the way I hit it! Girls try volleyball! It's great and you will have a lot of fun and it's not stressful trust me!!!!!!

I'm a 16 year old girl that lives in Manurewa, i have always loved playing volleyball, its a really cool and a fun sport like every other sport you get to interact with people in your team and get to learn more and new skills. My advice to people is that if you love volleyball then make sure you strive to do the best you can now and never give up, if you fail once twice even more then three times just get up and try again until you prove people wrong and you show them that you can do it.

I've played volleyball my whole life. It's the best sport because you can be tall and play or be short and play. At the start it hurts, but in the end it's really impressing and it's so much fun. There isn't a lot of running and the ball control is hard but it's still my favourite sport.

I play in a club team and it is the most amazing thing I have ever done. I am very blessed to play such an amazing sport.

I am thinking about joining the volleyball team. The reason I want to join now is because of all of the comments all of you put.

I just started volleyball and it is perfect for and probably for a whole lot of other people

Volleyball is probably the best sport for a girl. (If you can handle it.) I grew up playing volleyball in the school teams. A lot of girls quit. Because they can't handle the pain from spiking and digging. But trust me. You will get used to it. I suggest all girls try this sport. But one thing you should be careful of are the shorts. They're so short :/ But I'm sure if your coach is a man like mine. He'll let you wear your own black plain shorts. As long as you wear the volley top. I'm from nz. And I love volleyball! Try it! Honestly. U will not regret it.

I have tried out for volleyball for 2 years before this season and never made it. This year I tried out and beat three girls who have played about 4 years. My knees don't look pretty but I am stronger than before and I have gained a lot of friends in the process. Volleyball is amazing because everyone who plays is dedicated and just flat out hard working. Volleyball isn't something you pick up overnight it takes technique you have to develop. It's overall a skillbuilding and fantastic sport.

It is a great team sport. When you start you should start on a regular team and then when your 11 or older you should do club, just to get started. But when your on a club team it's 10 times more fun. ITS AWESOME.

Basketball is the best and number 1 sport of all time! Although some people can't do it, it's great for people who really want a team that cares about them and someone who can handle 20 fast breaks in a row. Basketball is tough and challenging but that is why it is fun. Great way to burn calories without knowing it!

I really love basketball, people say you have to be tall to play it but thats not entirely true. I'm 5'4 and I'm quite good at it. its good to be able to dodge and weave and although height defiantly helps when you score it is also about technique :)

I own one black gypsy horse and an all white pony named Micky, they're my babies and I would never give them up for anything. I think riding horses takes a lot of courage to first start and keep going, because you do fall off A LOT but you have to get back up if you want to really truly be an equestrian🐎 You should try it but don't push your self to hard, if it's not your thing then it's not your thing, don't force yourself apon a horse as the horse will react to your tension and will throw you off. But I do recommend trying it!!

what is equestrian?

If you go to the right place it will not be boring. This is definitely a great sport and as you progress further you can compete my favourite thing is cross country you can also do hacking, dressage, showjumping or cross country. If you are going somewhere where you do not need your own horse it costs about $50+ for a lesson. It does take a lot of strength and effort and it does give you amazing core and leg strength.

I started when I was 6 until I was 16 and loved it. Its quite expensive once you get a horse, thats why I had to quit:'( Loved it so much but make sure you really want to do it because it takes up lots of time, effort strenght and money. Its also gives you amazing leg muscles and keeps you really fit because no you dont just sit there! Its hard the first time, definetly five this a go though:-)xx

Also, ask your coach for advice on things to work on and ask her/him if you should join or not and depends on parents. Lastly, Oxford,MI is the best at horse back riding we have won state for many years!! So suck it Lakeorion!!!

I used to do Figure Skating 4 or 5 years ago. I quoted when I was 9 because I failed at Beta 2 two times. But now, I just wanna try again and feel free on the ice! I've only done Figure Skating (planning to go back soon) and Swimming (stopped classes but I left off in an advanced class).

Some ppl say ballet is so easy, you just spin around with your arms up... but no. Its the hardest thing on EARTH!! There´s your teacher critisizing your every move, and youre thinking about 1 million tiny technical details that makes the step look that much better. I have pointe shoes and it is the most painful experience of my life, and I´m 12. I otherwise am in LOVE with ballet. Sure people at school may judge you or think youre stupid because youre a ¨Pretty Pink Balleina¨ But its so much more than that. Come on girls and guys... JOIN THE CLAN!!

Just be sure to stretch every day , or some things i do : while i m sitting to watch TV or doing somerhing , i do the "papillon , grand écart "etc . If u r bored do some exercices daily , and you will be able to get better i promise guys , it s a wonderful sport to practice , and you can dance in your room to feel more relaxed and to forget your sadness and pain , and DONT EVER LISTEN TO SOMEONE WHOS TELLING U IT S TOO LATE . They just dont wanna accept the fact that you can get better than them , trust me , its from my experience . And try it even for one session , and sorry the message is tooooo long but plz read it till the end . Everyone will get bored from ballet at some time , and i even thought numerous times to quit , but thank god i had a mother who didnt let me quit , and DONT DARE TO QUIT !!! Cos if u quit now , just think of the you in the future . You will just regret your choices because u got the chance to learn but didnt . And i can understand some people are not rich enough to learn , so just warch videos of danses , feel motivated , lock your door and start dancing freely . You can warch practices and stretching on youtube , it is free and effective. I've been dancing, since as long as I can remember and I have always had an amazing experience. Unfortunately, I had to go to a foot doctor a few months ago because my fury was aching since I am always on my toes. What he told me is that I stretched something on my foot, which resulted in my foot hurting whenever it was flat. This can also happen from high heels but that is irrelevant, since I don't wear them. Yet that wasn't the only problem I had, but the others I can't remember, so they won't be mentioned. Even though I developed foot problems, which also happened because I have super flat feet, I still continue to Dance, but I will not be going en Pointe, which is very disappointing, but fortunate for my parents because they don't have to pay the extreme prices.

Ballet not only is beautiful, but it teaches one to have good posture and to be your character so, it teaches you to act, it gives you confidence, makes you skinny, elegant and flexible, it teaches you how to act near certain people, it is an amazing destresser, it teaches you about your body, and most importantly it makes you happy and you make friends and is the best choice my parents have ever made, in terms of raising me.

I did ballet from the age of 3 to 12 (and tap and modern) and it was really fun, looking back at videos, it looks really nice when you perfect the moves. I must say though it took up a lot of time and as I got older I began to dislike it and it got boring and extremely time consuming. I do know people who stuck at it though, guess it depends on the person.

I LOVE ballet it's so peaceful an graceful, and it's like gymnastics but totally just safer and easier, and you get to go to lots of places where you can become a famous dancer. Places like New York !

I believe you can start ballet at any age. I did it 5 years ago for a year, though we also did tap dancing. Ballet is a sport! Dance, tap dance, cheer, etc. all sports. Just because it's not in the Olympics doesn't mean it isn't a sport. If you can get a workout, it's a sport!

Cheering is my thing bc I have been doing it for 6 years and I love the people who do it with me. We don't always win the games, most of them we do, but anyways my coach is the best. She's harsh and hard but she keeps me and my teammates moving. I literally couldn't have a better cheer coach. Her daughter is like besties with me but she still moves me behind and fowards. I love her to death and it's fun. The stunts with my friends are my fave part. My team and coach is my second family. I always love the creative dance routines and the football players take us for granite but they should look at us and give us the credit bc all some of the teams we beat didn't have cheerleaders. Ya sometimes it isn't fun getting up early just for 2 hot or cold hours and moving and shaking our arms but it's the fun part and the effort that goes with the whole team. I could t ask for a better team❤️💜✌🏽️

i did cheer for 3 years and quit this year it can be fun depending on which level you are on. the coaches are tougher on higher levels and there is too much commitment

cheer is a very hard sport. you have to have like tumbling or gymnastics experience to not be put in the back....

I do all star cheer for pro athletics level 3. Its so much fun, you learn tumbling passes, stunts, dances and if you like to stretch, you'll enjoy conditioning. I have done ice skating, gymnastics, track, volleyball, swim (im on swim team) , and I do many other sports. The bad thing is that it is just a little overprice for a sport with injuries, uniform, etc. however, its plenty of fun!

Dance is very energetic and there are many varietys to choose from. Contemporary, ballet, hip hop, jazz, it's all very fun. There is a lot of work required to learn the moves and remember them though! If you like being competitive and also hard work and practice THIS IS THE THING FOR YOU

I have done dance for 11 years and I am taking a break to do musical theatre. Dance was SO much fun and it was a great way to express yourself and get your feelings out. It's really hard to start out late unless you just have a gift. I decided to take a break because people tend to be very judgemental and get really cocky. Also, the people on the dance team at my school were getting mean and I didn't want to be associated with them. So yeah, dance is a commitment, it's expensive, it's the hardest sport you will ever do (I have done basketball, soccer, swimming, and volleyball), people can get mean, and you have to start really young (I was 2 when I started).

I did dance for 8 years, it was fun, but this year I cried a lot because there was favoritism and a lot of rudeness going on, it got worse and worse, I just quit today and I'm already looking for new sports, if you want to do dance, pick the right studio☺️

Don't start if you don't have 1) a lot of money and 2) lots and lots of spare time after school, on the weekends and on holidays,,, otherwise, best way to keep fit, flexible and happy!!

You have to be mentally and physically strong so this teaches girls to push for goals as well as exercise at the gym and home. It also doesn't cost to much.

lacrosse for girls isnt as aggressive for boys girls can only be checked on their stick but boys wear helmets and can be checked anywhere.Girls wear eye gear and mouth guards ,it will be a penalty if we do dangerous checking .we do lots of running on and off games

Its really fun, and you make a lot of friends and learn a lot about communicating and working as a team. Its not 'babiesh' (as some would say) in my opinion. Its a great sport. I'm almost in senior now, and I'd recommend doing travel softball if you can.

I have been playing softball since I was 9 and I am almost 12 and to say softball is very aggressive sport just like baseball..... So I recommend that you play softball at 4 years old through 12 because if your 14 all the girls you will be playing with will be much stronger and hit harder and the pitches will be faster. Softball is life and its more of a passion!! P.S you do amazing fun cheers to cheer your team on!!

This is a GREAT sport!! Very fun and challenging. It is best to start learning at a young age but you can join at any middle school age. It is a lot harder than most people think. Someone had already commented "too babiesh" it is NOT at all!! It is very fun and I recommend it a lot! Age 9 is a good age to start but 14 beginners might be a little challenging for beginners... At that age there are lots of girls who have been playing for a while and may be hard to start because the pitches can be very fast, and some girls may hit HARD... I reccomend girls start anywhere from ages 6-12... It is very fun and I really think it is a very good game!!

I did tap dancing when I was little and we performed a show at the end. To this day, I still remember the song and the dance. And tap dancing, dancing and anything that you can get a work out dong, is a sport!

Tap dance is an excellent passtime for many young girls, a very close friend of mine is in tap and she loves it, she never shuts up about it, haha. Tap is an excersize as well as a stress relief system.

I did western showing for about 2yrs. I had been around horses ever since I was born and still love them. Although I ride western pleasure now and just do it for fun I defiantly recommend it!

I am an Australian 12 year old girl (13 in a couple of months) and I have been playing netball since I was 6 I love the sport I play for a local Tasmanian club and I hope to play for the Tasmanian league and maybe even become a player of the Australian diamonds and play in the world cup (when I am older obviously and when I have a lot more skills) its always been one of my favourites sports and always will be I usually play as GA (actually all the time!) Oooo I'd like to do karate, because my my brother did karate but quit, my cousins did karate but quit, freaking everyone in my family quit! But my dad wants me to learn self defense for all the nutcaeses around. It's really sad actually, my friend has been doing karate since she was 5 and one of her sensi's was obviously a black belt. Well one day also keep in mind, my friends like head sensor said to NEVER WEAR HEADPHONES IN PUBLIC (let's call the black belt Jenny) while Jenny was walking at night she was wearing headphones and a guy came from behind her and killed her. Now my friend is constantly learning about self defence because her head sensi doesn't want anything happening to anyone else after losing Jenny.

I did karate for 5 years and trust me it got kind of boring for me. But there is a lot of diligence involved. Your instructor will yell and may be very strict but in the end it's very fun.

Cross country is fun, however if you are doing it at school make sure you are aren't slow. I did cross country tryouts in middle school a few weeks ago and the last group of people weren't allowed to drink water. We almost collapsed. Otherwise it's pretty fun just make sure you like it.
