Lead for the folk group The Seekers; popular in the late 60s; her voice was clear, powerful and distinctive.
Comments:
I didn't remember from back in the '60s, but I heard her a few months ago and can hardly stop listening to her -- definitely up there with Celine Dion and Karen Carpenter, maybe better than either of my 'other' favorites.
Judith Durham has a perfect voice...period. Could listen to her for hours and hours.
Once you hear Judith sing there is no going back. I have spent many evenings to just Judith on you tube.
If you have discovered Judith feel fortunate!!
In a class of her own! Too bad many have never heard of her. Thank God for YouTube and discovering her in 2008. My absolute favorite!
A very talented singer who could sing pop, jazz, folk & opera. Was lead singer of the Australian group The Seekers in the 60s. Listen to Climb Every Mountain, especially the last note.
Just discovered some of her songs with the Seekers on youtube. What a beautiful voice...on key...held in pitch and strength..flawless transition from note to note...no attitude....no earthy, growling sound or the sound you get pouring freezing water on sunburned skin...just pure beautiful sound...a real pleasure..
Wonderful singer. Whether jazz, gospel, folk or pop, this diminutive lady is so versitile. Distinctive vocal in The Seekers.
No contemporary could have matched Judith in her youth. She was the best the 60s had to offer, bar none. Cute too.
Unmatched clarity, range and versatility. Whatever the musical genre, she can sing it flawlessly and has for over 50 years. Greatly underrated in the United States, If you have never heard her, do yourself a favor and search you tube for a video.
Tremendous vocal range and clarity in one of he most versatile and distinctive voices of the last half of the twentieth century. Her beautiful voice was grossly underrated in he United States.

Alison should be at or near the top of today's singer list, compares favorably with Judith Durham for best ever pure singer IMHO. Durham started in the 60s and anyone who listens to her stints with the Seekers will see what I mean

Lead singer for Fairport Convention and writer of "Who Knows Where The Time Goes". A beautiful voice stilled too young in 1978 by a tragic accident.

Beautiful voice and she writes wonderful music. Afterglow is one of the best CDs of the past 10 years.

"Sweet Judy Blue Eyes" eclectic tastes in the material she recorded has made her hard to peg. In the '70s her beautiful high soprano voice even made a top 20 hit of the old hymn "Amazing Grace", done a capella.

Her distinctive voice and style combines elements of blues, rock, pop, folk and country. Nine Grammys in a four decade career.

Had an incredible vocal range of five-and-a-half octaves, and displayed it in her top selling single "Loving You". Sadly died at age 31 of cancer.

Beautiful voice, emotional involvement with her musical interpretation. Diverse and eclectic in her presentation. Her death at 33 on the verge of wider recognition was a tremendous loss.

A pop beauty with several hits in the late seventies and early eighties including the theme from Splash "Love Came For Me".

One of the finest singers/most expressive voices I've ever heard, with a huge number of recorded songs.
