Director David Lynch is the master of creepy but Hopper's portrayal of Frank Booth is beyond the pale. Booth is the perfect blend of frightening and baffling - the constant cursing, the nitrous huffing, the Pabst Blue Ribbon, the strange sexual proclivities, this character has it all.

Bardem's chilling portrayal of the assassin with the dopey hair shocked audiences in 2008. Also introduced the cattle gun to the general populace.

Pesci was so funny and entertaining in this role you almost forget the character he played was a remorseless murdering sociopath. DeVito was one of the scariest psychos: the ones who seem like average guys until you get them mad.

Nobody does crazy like Jack and this is his best crazy character. The Shining still holds up as one of the creepiest films ever and its because of the slow descent in madness experienced by the frustrated writer and recovering alcoholic Jack Torrance.

I never thought I could be scared of little Ben Kingsley but Sexy Beast proved me wrong. Don Logan was a muttering, unpredictable nut job with deep seated personal problems. The type of character who could snap and commit horrific violence for no reason at all.
