If it is not for the prudish, squeamish and/or those offended by interracial sex, not to mention extreme violence that caused an uproar among critics and audiences alike, it is certainly not in any definition of a chick flick that I have ever heard. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THE DEFINITION OF A CHICK FLICK? MANDINGO IS NOT IT.
Since you haven't seen the movie, your opinion is worthless. The story takes place in the Old South in an historical period that "politically correct" critics find to be unpalatable. It's true that, in certain respects, it is more "graphic" than say "Roots", so it may not be suitable viewing for the prudish or squeamish, and/or those offended by interracial sex. But, before you condemn it, see it. Then we might be interested in your opinion.
According to IMDb, this film starred James Mason, Susan George and Perry King. It was about a slave owner in the 1840s who trains one of his slaves to be a bare-knuckle fighter. Because of all the controversy over the film, vilified by critics and audiences alike, the film has never again been screened to an audience, and, according to IMDb, was never released on DVD. Personally, my opinion is that a film based on the racial hatred and violence depicted here is NOT a chick flick and is ineligible for this list.
