Known as the “Bloody Lady of Čachtice, Bathory was a Transylvanian aristocrat who may have been a partial model for the character of Dracula. The exact nature of her crimes are hard to pin down due to poor quality of criminal investigation in the 16th century and the fact that the in the Middle Ages nobility were basically above the common law. She's rumored to have kidnapped, horrifically tortured and murdered over 600 young girls. Legend has it she took baths in her victims blood because he believed it would grant her eternal youth.
Comments:
She was most dangerous serial killer in human history!
She was convicted for 80 killings but that was 600+
1.She was beautiful
2. Powerful
3. Have status
4.Have good background
And most deadly WOMAN!!!
As I know that God will forgive you, if you ask. Forever young in hell shall you be if you don't.
She also has been the inspiration for several excellent metal songs especially Venom's on the Black Metal album.
Not to be a feminist but for a woman, she was really scary, probably a descendant of Lilith or something.
Just for fun she also killed her victims by letting them naked on the snow in the winter and pouring water over them until they froze, and she loved to decapitate her servant’s heads! Call that normal!

Bundy, the ladykiller, he was a monster on the inside and a charming individual on the outside, true. We need to also consider how he became that way, through his terrible childhood and adolescence, the disorder of his mind which caused him to feel and think that way. Nothing is an excuse for what he did, considering most of those women or all of them were probably innocent. But you need to consider both sides to come to a conclusion. The only one really judges the future of killers like Bundy is God.
you don't need a high IQ to kill anyone...you just need to have a serious problem with your mental wiring. Why don't we ever see areal life 'Dexter' who hunts truely terrible dirtbags in his spare time, rather than getting kicks from picking on unsuspecting, weak individuals who have no chance. Too easy. Smart people like a challenge, idiots take the easy path to whatever makes them feel better than they truely are.
smart, handsome, manipulative and extra maniacal. he inspired the character of cool serial killers in hollywood movie today.
Has anyone heard of the documentary Burke and Hare the Body Merchants? I would like to see it and was wondering if it was similar to the recent Burke and Hare (2010) movie.
No, that was those incidents happened with the green river killer.
He tried getting Dahmer turned in once. Him and Dahmer were also investigated by the same detective.
Theodore Robert "Ted" Bundy, born Theodore Robert Cowell (November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer active between 1973 and 1978. He twice escaped from county jails before his final apprehension in February 1978. After more than a decade of vigorous denials, he eventually confessed to over 30 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Estimates range from 26 to over 100, the general estimate being 35. Typically Bundy would bludgeon his victims, then strangle them to death. He also engaged in rape and necrophilia. Bundy was executed by electric chair for his last murder by the state of Florida in 1989.

manson only claimed to have killed people himself. there is no evidence that he actually kill anyone. however, he is responsible for the deaths of 7 and claims responsibility for over 30
Charles Manson is a convicted serial killer who has become an icon of evil. In the late 1960s, Manson founded a hippie cult group known as "the Family" whom he manipulated into brutally killing others on his behalf. Charles Manson was good at manipulating people. He took pieces from various religions to form his own philosophy. On August 9, 1969, four of Manson's followers brutally murdered Tate, her unborn baby, and four others who were visiting her (Polanski was in Europe for work). The following night, Manson's followers brutally killed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in their home. It took the police several months to determine who was responsible. In December 1969, Manson and several of his followers were arrested. The trial began on July 24, 1970. On January 25, Manson was found guilty of first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. On March 29, 1971, Manson was sentenced to death. Manson was reprieved from the death penalty in 1972 when the California Supreme Court outlawed the death penalty. Charles Manson now serves a lifetime sentence and periodically comes up for parole. Though he's been in prison for over three decades, Charles Manson has received more mail than any other prisoner in the U.S. Charles Manson is currently being held in California's Corcoran Prison.

H.H.Holmes...is by far and away the worst serial killer ever, and i would put at number ,1
He constructed a multi story hotel in downtown chicago, basically for the sole purpose of torturing and killing women.
I agree with the previous comment ,,its probably over 200
I'm related to him and his body count is in the 200's from what I'm told by my family. He was my great, great.......... cousin.
Herman Webster Mudgett (May 16, 1861 – May 7, 1896), better known under the alias of Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, was an American serial killer. Holmes opened a hotel in Chicago for the 1893 World's Fair, which he built himself and was the location of many of his murders. While he confessed to 27 murders, of which nine were confirmed, his actual body count could be higher.

The married couple believed in Nazism, sadism and bruality of the highest degree. They killed 13 children, including their own. They systematically raped tortured and killed innocent victims. They also abused countless victims during their reign of terror. Mrs West denied her involvement- and believed she was innocent. This evil pair makes hell too good for them.
Comments:
They also had damning evidence against Mrs West as the Wests taped torturing and killing thier children victims.... totally horrendous and they deserve full punishment of the worst kind.

incorrect it is widely believed to have been the press at that time who penned the infamous ripper letters to sell more papers
Very true. Did you know that he'd write letters to the police as a way to torment them? Most were hardly readable and they had a suspect but no name or conviction to go with it.

Gary Leon Ridgway (born February 18, 1949), known as the "Green River Killer", is an American serial killer. Ridgway murdered numerous women in Washington during the 1980s and 1990s. He strangled them, mostly with his arm, but he would also use ligatures. After strangling the women, he would dump their bodies throughout King County. On November 30, 2001, as he was leaving a Renton, Washington factory where he worked, he was arrested for the murders of four women whose cases were linked to him through DNA evidence. As part of a plea bargain, he was spared the death penalty and received a sentence of life imprisonment without parole

John Wayne Gacy, Jr. (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer active between 1972 and 1978. Until he was arrested, Gacy raped and murdered at least 33 young men and boys, mostly teenagers. Although some of his victims' bodies were found in the Des Plaines River, he buried 26 of them in the small crawl space underneath the basement of his home and three more elsewhere on his property. He became known as "Killer Clown" because of the popular block parties he would throw for his friends and neighbors, entertaining children in a clown suit and makeup as "Pogo the Clown".

rader is the best serial killer. completely knew what he was doing. rader is a hero in the world of serial killers
Comments:
To the author of the initial comment, I am curious how much of a "hero" you would still find him had he decided to enter your home. Probably wouldn't be so "cool" then....I think everyone should take a second and think about what it would be like to be a victim before idolizing such an evil person.
you guys are allll freaking out because he called him a "hero" but obvioulsy theyre talking about in the "serial killer" world . chill -__- dont be so sensitive
Hero?
One thing is to investigate and ,Well I personally have a psycho thing which is read a lot about them,But another Is to call 'em heroes.
Is this a hero ?
how is he the best serial killer ? None of them are the best !! They are all animals !! and he is nowhere near a hero !! what is wrong with you !!!
He isn't a hero at all . Blah , you people are crazy if you think that he is .
His claim to fame will be forgotten. only an asterix or footnote will remain
He killed people including a 9 year old boy and a 62 year old woman. That is not a hero that is an impotent little coward. Also he was such a loser that he had to let people know he was doing it through letters just so that someone would pay attention to him, he is a tiny little pathetic parasite not a hero.
knew what he was doing or not it doesnt make him a an amazing person.
hes a psyco path that deserves to be dead.
he caught himself after taunting the police and wichata for 30 years then bragged about it in court. and escaped the death penalty.. he killed more and will admit it on his deathbed tru pimp

leader of ruthless and cruel Shankill butchers who slaughtered many innocent Catholic civilians in Belfast during the 1970s.
Comments:
Him and his gang are what you would call mass murderers not serial killers. If we are doing it this way we need to add people like Dr. Josef Mengele, Dr. Kevorkian, and hey lets just throw in a Bush or two as well.
Lenny Murphy and the shankhill butchers were in fact not serial killers but part of a paramilitary group (UVF) during the troubles in Northern Ireland. He was rightly asassinated by the Provisional IRA in 1982. So due to the involvement in a recognised civil war, he shouldn't be included in this list.

I heard that he was a necrophiliac, and that he would use a power drill on the victims foreheads.
Once he had injected a man with acid directly into his brain in the hopes of creating a sex slave zombie. While arriving home one day he discovered cops surrounding the victim on his front lawn, he then managed to convince the cops that the victim was mentaly retarded and he was looking after him. Lead him into the house never to be seen again
how can someone be so evil...i cant belive that someone got away and then the cops took him back but later fount him dead..
They should have put him in solitary confinement and he would still be alive and suffering. I know this sounds wrong but i have and obsession with serial killers particularly Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacey and Edward Gein i would want to interview him from and safe distance of course.
Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender. Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys – many of whom were of African or Asian descent – between 1978 and 1991, with the majority of the murders occurring between 1987 and 1991. His murders were particularly gruesome, involving rape, torture, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. On November 28, 1994, he was beaten to death by an inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution, where he had been incarcerated.

A member of the Indian Thuggee Assassin cult in the mid 19th century, Behram supposedly confessed to over 900 murders over his 40 year career. While many experts believe that number is inflated and Behram only witnessed that many, he's still probably on the hook for a few hundred. Behram is the only killer on the list who murdered by profession, not for pleasure

Wouldn't you be a bit down on life if your surname was Sithole?
Moses Sithole (November 17, 1964) is a South African serial killer who committed the "ABC Murders", so named because they began in Atteridgeville, continued in Boksburg and finished in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg. Sithole would gain access to victims by pretending to be a businessman and offering them work, going so far as to invent a fictional charity organization. Once he had gained their trust, he would offer to walk them through a veld (an Afrikaans word literally meaning "field") to the "business headquarters" until they were out of sight and hearing range; he would then overpower, rape and strangle them. By 1995, he had claimed over 30 victims, igniting a nationwide panic. In some cases, he would call the victim's family and taunt them.

Edward Theodore "Ed" Gein (pronounced /ˈɡiːn/; August 27, 1906 – July 26, 1984) was an American murderer and grave robber. His crimes, which he committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin garnered widespread notoriety after authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin. After police found body parts in his house in 1957, Gein confessed to killing two women: tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954, and a Plainfield hardware store owner, Bernice Worden, in 1957. Initially found unfit to stand trial, following confinement in a mental health facility, he was tried in 1968 for the murder of Worden and sentenced to life imprisonment, which he spent in a mental hospital. The body of Bernice Worden was found in Gein's shed; her head and the head of Mary Hogan were found inside his house. Robert H. Gollmar, the judge in the Gein case, wrote: "Due to prohibitive costs, Gein was tried for only one murder--that of Mrs. Worden."

The pair killed, tortured, raped five innocent children on the Moors in England. Their sadistic sadism contrieved from their love of the Nazis. Their torture was inspired by the Nazis. Hindley until her death believed she was innocent. May they rot.
Comments:
To the previous comment. Depending on what version you've read of these two you have read... There were a total of 3 males and 2 females killed for a total of 5 deaths. Female ages were 16 and 10. One of the males was 17 and the other two boys were both 12. Keith Bennett is one of the 12-year-old victims names and his body has never been located. Obviously taken in by Myra's meek appearance she did (as well as did Ian Brady) tell the courts she was innocent and no author in which has written about this case to my knowledge disputes this. Hindley stated she was in the automobile waiting for Brady who had went into the moor with Pauline Reade (victim #1) whom SHE lured to her death. Brady himself tried to maintain her innocence until she claimed later that she had been an unwilling blackmail victim of Brady. The first hunger strike he went on was in protest of not being allowed to gain visiting rights with Hindley and not an "oh woe is me I'm so unloved and mistreated strike". Lastly, yes, Ian Brady was an atheistic, de sadeist, nazist individual who espoused his views heavily onto Hindley but then again Hindley never gave a hint of this being ego-dystonic (so take that as you want to) which in my humble opinion within these tools used to indoctrinate her was an element that resonated within her. Within every account of their loathsome tale there is the existence of evidence that Hindley was a dominant personality but not quite as dominate as Brady would have preferred. There is speculation that had Brady found a higher (Hindley being considered upper-medium-dominance) dominate match these murders may never have occurred. Hindly being on the higher end of the medium scale meant she'd engage in "hero" like worship which led to her being a more than willing partner in the grand schemes in which these two would later embark. There are too many people and too few people who are willing to see that these women are just as culpable as the male counterparts.
Myra Hindley and Ian Brady didn't murder 5 children, it was 6. The body of the last child has never been found as Ian Brady refused to give details of where Keith was buried. Myra Hindley didn't rape or 'assault' the children, it was Ian Brady. It was also Ian Brady that had the unhealthy interest in Hitler and the Nazi party. She never once claimed to be innocent, she accepted her part in the murders and did her time in prison. The woman did commit several evil crimes on innocent children but she turned her life around in prison unlike Ian Brady who has been on a hunger strike for the last ten years, he refuses to give the location of Keith's body to this day. May HE rot in Hell, as for Myra Hindley who knows what became of her after her death.

Should be higher on the list. Thought possibly not classifiable as a serial killer, since he did not commit a series of murders, he is the largest mass murderer in Australia's history. The incident happened on 28th April 1996 in Port Arthur, Tasmania. It was this act which directly led to the banning of all automatic and semi-automatic weapons in Australia.
