A gifted, durable defensive catcher. Great handler of pitchers. However, only a mediocre hitter.....

If you do more research you will find that he was the best player on the greatest team you NEVER heard of the Philly Athletics of the 30's. The Yankees had no answer for him. He could hit (which was unsual for carchers of that period) and was defensive wiz. He should to the list. Bench was great, Hard not to be in those Cinncy teams of the 70's.

Negro leaguer who never played in the majors, but the greatest African American catcher of all time deserves to be ranked.
