If your dog appears to have been bitten or in a fight, you should contact your vet. If he was fighting with another pet, contact that pet's owner to be sure that the "other" dog is up to date on all shots, and to let them know your dog's status as well.

If you caught your dog digging through the trash, make sure he didn't ingest anything hazardous--look for potential poisons like household cleaners, and for food debris like bones or chocolate, both are health hazards for dogs

if your dog is suddenly losing weight, but still seems to be eating his usual amount, contact your vet--it coudl be a sign that he is not well.
