My family has always opened one present Christmas eve. It took them awhile, but my kids finally realized that one present was always PJ's. Now they moan and groan about its not like we don't know what it is...I have to be more creative. Adult PJ's with feet. Sexy thongs for the guys...

On long roadtrips, we take turn with the music. They listen to one of our favorites, we listen to one of theirs. Our adult and teenage children have very eclectic tastes spanning several genres and ages.

For our family its a campground with a tubing river. At some point during the summer, we know we are all meeting at the river. And the kids are grown and bringing their kids.

When the children were 8 to 17 we would have weekend Nintendo Nights. Play all the games, stay up until they fell asleep on the floor and have popcorn and brownies and hot chocolate. The kids loved it!

At dinner, in the car, certain times of the day, ALL of you turn off the phones and tvs and computers and do things together without interruptions or distractions.

all of my kids know how to make the family favorites. When someone is having a bad day, someone else starts dinner and knows exactly what to cook.
