De Martini is the original messenger bag. It was started as Globe Canvas by sailmaker Frank DeMartini in the 1950’s. For many years DeMartini was the only messenger bag maker in the world and he supplied most messenger companies in New York. He passed away in 2000 but the bags live on.

There are many messenger bag companies out recently but they simply do not have the many years of design perfection PAC has. Now many others have copied PAC features but PAC knows where to place what at what angle using what material. PAC are the best because of innovation, experience and mostly because they really care about what they make.
PAC BAGS are the most coveted bags out there. Hand made in Canada by only 2 employees ( and the owner PAT)-sometimes you have to wait awhile if you are getting a custom bag but it worth the wait. No one makes a bag that will last longer or take the punishment that everyday riding can give a bag. No bags work or fit better.
PAC started in 1989 in Toronto (relocated to British Columbia and then back to Ontario). PAC is very well-respected by couriers worldwide. They were probably the first to build fully customized bags with many options and add-ons, such as pockets dividers, radio holders, hip pouches and u-lock holsters.
“Pac Designs original innovations such as the "D" ring adjusting, "anti-sway" straps, padded backs, and Ballistic bottoms are now seen on other messenger bags. Other innovations such as the "X" strap (A removable 2nd shoulder strap), 3 layers Construction, and Deluxe suspension strapping remain exclusively on Pac bags.

Zo Bags started in 1984 and are probably the first international bags. After the first Cycle Messenger World Championships in 1993 Zo Bags were used by messengers all over the world. The orginal Zo Bags retain value as a collectible. According to the IFBMA Zo Bags can, “securely claim the introduction of one-piece construction (of the outer covering; previously, makers like DeMartini and Manhattan Portage constructed the flap as a separate piece, which necessitated a seam across the top of the bag), as well as the 3-panel bag design and the waist strap.”

Started in 1995 in Toronto at the former downtown courier bike shop – The Bike Ranch. This is the same place that PAC bags were made prior to PAC’s move to British Columbia. Together with PAC, Push is one of the two top quality messenger bag manufacturers in Ontario.

This bag is extremely well made (in the USA no less) and has all the attributes worthy of a top bag. Aside from materials and construction quality, it's roomy, well organized, extremely protective of laptops, and very comfortable, adjustable straps on the fly, etc. and durable. As most spire products, it's silver lined so you can find things quick,y (especially when the light isn't so good) instead of looking into a deep black bag.
By contrast I bought another bag as an overnighter because it had a great laptop sleeve, gadget pockets, etc. and room for clothes. It is made from very heavy materials and I thought was built like a tank. In less than 1 year it has a tear along one of the zippers, the padded shoulder strap pad tore off, and in retrospect, it's not well organized or very easy to use the gadget pockets... looks can be deceiving.
Back to Spire, I also have a Spire backpack that I've been using for work for 3 years... I use it every day. It gets tossed around at will, and crammed with everything I need, for business trips, customer meetings, etc. vacations, etc. It's my essential carry on bag as well as my every day bag. It looks like the day I bought it, and I purchased it 9 years ago for my daughter to take to college, and I took it back after she stopped using it. No snags, no broken zippers or hardware, etc. I love that thing. If you're still reading this far, I bought the Endo because Spire inspires confidence. One thing about their products, you more than likely will only replace them on your terms - when you just want a change, not because you have to.
