Why Greenland? It's not too green.

Greenland is notable for having the most deceptive name in country-naming history. How did anyone get away with this?

This may be the first country name ever to be said just for the fun of saying it, and people are still doing it to this day.

Borat may have made Kazakhstan big in the West, but everyone in the former Soviet Union has known for a long time that Kazakhstan has a great name.

Sometimes you lose something wonderful, only to have it replaced by something just as great. Formerly sporting the awesome name of "Ceylon," Sri Lanka picked up its current (and still awesome) name following independence from Great Britain.

This is one of those country names that no one in the U.S. seems to know how to pronounce. On the bright side, every pronunciation sounds great. Way to go, Qatar!

Great Britain
How many other countries have the word "Great" in their name! It's so pompous, stuck up and most of all so wrong! But nonetheless its a very cool name.
