The bad-ass Ranger and King of Gondor. This man goes from seeming as nothing more than a ruffian to the man who is heir to the greatest kingdom of man in Middle-Earth. He's extremely strong, intelligent, skilled, and actually quite amicable. Few men would make better kings than him.

Everyone's favorite old wizard, wonderfully portrayed by Ian McKellen in the movies. Kind, wise, and strong, he goes from being awesome to more awesome when he becomes Gandalf the White. Death has nothing on this guy.

Samwise Gamgee
Frodo Baggins' stalwart gardner and best friend. The two of them manage to march from the Falls of Rauros all the way into Mordor, and Sam never stopped looking after Frodo. He kept a close eye on Gollum when Frodo wouldn't, and he became the ring-bearer for a short time. You will never find a better friend than Sam.
