I loved this book and I still do! I can't see anyone disliking it!
A revamp (pun intended) of "Romeo & Juliet". I would have "loved" it if I were still 14 - 16. I found it readable and liked it.
Complete rubbish! All it is is poorly written descriptions of how beautiful Edward is. I'm 10 and I know it's crap.
definitely, not defiantly. it's difficult for me to want to read what you have to say about literature when you misspell.
Okay the last three defiantly boring especially the second one, took me months to read it because it was so boring, but the first one wasn't that bad
The beginning was a bit dull, the middle was unimaginative, and the end was so weak amoebae on Saturn could probably write better than that. Apart from that, brilliant.
PS real vampires don't sparkle.

Once you get into it it's actually pretty good. Hard to read, yes, and long. But certainly better than, say, Spenser's "Faerie Queen".

HOW CAN THIS SERIES BE BORING!!!??? I am an exceptionally picky reader and I loved this book. Have you even read this book. There is a reason Harry Potter is known throughout the world and I'm pretty sure it's not because of how boring it is.
I can’t stop reading these books and so can a million other fans so why on earth is this even number 3?
Harry Porter is the most boring book of all time. Totally agree. Hate the author J. K. Rowling as well.
I couldn't even read 1/2 of the first book, I tried sooooooo hard. Its so BORING!
U SIRIUS!??? I read this book in second grade and it has ALWAYS been my favorite book. if Harry Potter had not been there, I wouldn't be me. I literally retread the Harry Potter series four or five times a year. I don't understand how anyone could hate this series!
ARE U KIDDING ME!!!! HOW DID THIS BOOK SHOW UP ON THIS LIST???? ITS AMAZING!
You've got to be kidding me. Hrry Potter is the best! J.K. Rowling writing is magical! (pun intended)
Harry potter is one of the best and most successful books out there!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could not even get through the first book, and usually I'm able to finish books.
Are you kidding?!??! The Harry Potter books are pure gold. GOLD!
You're insane. Harry Potter was one of the best series I have ever encountered. I grew up on these books.
Are you kidding us? Have you ever read The Betrothed, I Malavoglia or Zeno's Conscience? In Italy we know what is boring and what not,. You are kidding us!
7.
Extremely Boring
It completely goes over your head. Its basically from the Vedas and its supposed to have a story but its not getting anywhere.

This is my favorite book!!! The people who dislike this material have no concept of art and beauty in their pathetic life. You have to read it to live!
I had to read this book in 7th grade and never in my life have I read a book as boring as this one. The movie however is pretty good
This is the best book of all time! You gotta read it again. Right, most people can't figure it out what it means. NO BOOK BY CHALES DICKINS IS BORING!
Get it out of the list! Everyone must read this book!
It was very long, but I eventually ended up enjoying it.
I would probably read it again, as I haven't seen it in quite a few years.
Had toread this in high school so it's not fair to call it too boring. Gotta blame the teacher some.

Comments:
We had to read this for a sophomore English class. The most I could get through was one chapter a day. After that my brain started trying to escape through my ears out of boredom.

Whoever made this list has clearly not read half the books on this list and I can prove it.
1) The descriptions he/she gives are extremely dull and lack meaning, "It was too long," " It was slow" "It was boring" these seem to repeat a lot on this list, and not only that but he/she never once states that they even FINISHED any of these books.
2) Unpopular opinions. This person has taken famous and controversial literature and deemed them "the most boring books of all times," despite the majority of them being highly successful. Also somebody commented on les mis, saying that hugo doesn't understand the world, he does, he just understood it in his era.
don't let some random guy/girl on the internet sway your opinion.
It's Shakespeare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even his name is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11.
Yeah, there's some spontaneous combustion and a whole lot of mud, but all in all, Bleak House is just that...bleak.

How could this book be listed as boring? The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a really interesting story. Love to read it for English class in high school. A great book for children and young adults.
13.
Its so boring.
It doesnt move at all what so ever, and its just a really strecthed out story.
14.
Comments:
This is one of my all time favorite books of that era. This may be the first romantic comedy. Once you get the language, it's great. So much wit.
Try the 2005 movie. I personally love it and im 13 but everyone has their preferences. Try watching it with a friend who can explain it to you as you go!
Watching paint dry is more exciting than this drivel. Most boring work ever written in the English language. SHEER DRIVEL
The 19th century language is hard to get through for 21st century people, but once you get used to it, it's really great. Full of wit and rhetoric finesse. I adore that book!
How on earth is this a boring book? It is one of the most addictive fictional classics I have ever read!
Boring? Pride and Prejudice? Why is this book in this list? This is a very very entertaining book. Very funny. Very insightful. What a Story.
This is not a boring book in my least, in my opinion. I highly enjoyed it.
15.
Why is the author explaining each and every single thing going on in the book? She opened the door and closed it behind. She walked three feet forward and then turned and walked a few more steps. It's that boring. I can't understand how people like it. May be there is something I'm missing.
16.
Comments:
Ok it is long and detailed, but not at all boring. If one takes a little pain by going slow and steady, its very readable and interesting. I would certainly rate it one of the best works of literature.
This is a terrific ironic story. But I'd never had understood it through the how hard it was to read. Got the audiobook and spent two weeks commuting to it. Glad I did. Great history.

Comments:
Gave up at book three. 200 pages of story per book, stretched to about 500 pages each. The ominous, building plotlines only result in generic fantasy boss fights. Not worth the time and effort.
my absolute fave series. INCREDIBLE STORY ARCS! that being said they do get a bit draggy -- robert jordan was very ill while writing a number of them. sadly, he passed away before the series was finished. his wife and Brandon Sanderson used his notes to write the last 3 books of the series. i've read the last 2 of them, and they're incredibly good, with a lot of loose ends tied up.
Finishing book 6 and am having really mixed feelings. The books are really dragging, and I have stopped enjoying them. Don't want to give up half way through though.
you gotta be kidding me?
this is one of the best books ive ever read
Dune series? now thats boring
NONONONONO!!! This is not boring, any more than any other epic fantasies are boring. Yes, its a very broad canvas populated with a huge number of characters but "boring"? NO!
if this wasn't already number one, it would need to move on up there!
18.
I can honestly say this is the most-boring book I have ever attempted to read. I found this book so boring that I stopped reading it about 60 to 75 percent through. I looked up and read a summary of the remainder of the book, and I was completely satisfied with my decision to stop reading because even the ending was horrible.

Sure, he's a master, but the dialects just make this one snooze-inducing read.

This is a great book! I read it as a teen. Dark theme with romance and passion. And I read it as a teen. I think I'll dust it off and read it again.

Are you kidding? If you didn't get past the first 5 pages no wonder you thought it was boring. The guy recounts crashing onto an island with caves of diamonds and highly intellectual and educated people, not to mention a giant volcano. You couldn't get e better combo.

I'm listening to the unabridged audiobook - read very nicely - as I can't get through the text in the book.
I found it tough going during the first four chapters, then listened and found it a little easier to re-read, but painful to plough on past that point.
The reason i find this site is, in short, Middlemarch. 10 min.ago i was bored to death reading it and wrote "why is middle march so boring" in google and i'm here. But the most boring book i have ever read was H.James' Portrait of a Lady. Not Middlemarch type of boring but REALLY REALLY very boring it steal away 15 days of hard reading from my life. Shame.

I don't know why this book is so famous, its soooo boring and I totally hate half the characters! The worst character is Myrtle! I also don't like the time period it's in...
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who doesn't like this. I had to read it for school.
Comments:
I love The Great Gatsby. I have seen the movie, too. Both the original and the adaptation. You just have to understand it and pay attention to the characters and not get distracted so easily. If you do that, you won't know what is happening clearly. My brother read this when he was in highschool(he is now about to turn 20) and I am thirteen now and I love it. He didn't and still doesn't
I also agree, I am 6 and I've read the whole Lord of the Rings series. I believe its important to take a step back and not look at any one book in particular, no, no, but rather the series as a whole
The great Gatsby was I thought one of the most boring books I ever read, and I read War and Peace by Tolstoy and enjoyed it. The characters, setting, and plot are all uninspiring and obvious.
I loved Gatsby, it's probably one of my favorite books, actually, and I personally loved the movie version
I must disagree with this book being on the list. This is probably Fitzgerald's greatest novel. I found The Great Gatsby far more easier to read than Tender is the Night (which I still enjoy by the way.)
I agree I am 10 and I've read the whole harry potter series. You have to look at the whole book altogether.
I was forced to read The Great Gatsby in school as well, but I wouldn't say it's the most boring book of all time. I loathe A Farewell to Arms and Catcher in the Rye far more than The Great Gatsby.
The reason the Great Gatsby is so famous is because of its excellent use of metaphor and symbolism. Its a great story if you catch on the all the little details. Are you 14? Because you certainly write like it... You can't judge a book on how well you like the characters, thats not how it works. Why you must be as shallow and absent minded as Daisy
31.
Was required to read at least the first 50 pages for school! It was absolutely pointless!
32.
This book is absolutely horrendous. I had to read this particular book not by choice but as a summer reading requirement for AP English. I love to read and will read anywhere at anytime quietly, but I found that with this book I had to isolate myself into the confinements of my room and read aloud or else I would not remember a thing. I had to read 366 pages of a man talking about how to argue and giving life stories that bored me to death. Not only did I suffer through this horrid book but sadly my parents were among one of the many victims that I'm sure this book has accumulated. I had to finish this book by a certain deadline and so that entailed reading in a hotel room with my parents listening in absolute boredom because we went on a weekend trip. By the time I had finished my daily chapters my family clapped in relief. They hated the book so much that they would not let me read it in there presence again.
34.
Preachy allegory-simply could not finish this repetitive nonsense. Would rather have a fingernail yanked out.

Comments:
You probably had problems with "Dick and Jane" in first grade as well.
38.
If you've tried to get through this classic seafaring tale, you understand why it deserves a high ranking.
Comments:
This book is great, entertaining and thought-provoking. I have read it twice and want to read it again.
Yes, a great story dreadfully badly told.
One of the few occasions where the film improved on the book. Derek Eynon
Melville would never get his work published today. While several chapters would read great as short stories. OMG the description of his first night with Queequeg is hilarious. But a chapter on the color white? Excellent read for a collection of independent weird thoughts.
I read for pleasure not for teachers and when I get to where I'm not enjoying a book I put it down. Moby Dick is mighty hard to follow. I struggled through about 1/2 and decided not to torture myself any more. I did the same with Billy Budd. Call me Harry.
39.
I barely got through This Side of Paradise and by the time i got to the Beautiful and the Damned, i gave up halfway through. I threw the book at the wall, screamed, started to cry and havent touched it since. Gatsby was Fitzgerald's only masterpiece. BatD was more a book to pad Fitzgerald's ego, and was executed poorly. Plot, none of it.
40.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS BOOK AT ALL!!! For a book based in the future, its really boring!
I had to read it back in 7th grade and after i read it, i didn't even remember half of it!
Why is this book so famous? i am i the only one who hates this book??
Comments:
You are definitely not alone. I read this in 8th grade and I hated it so much, It is really boring.
It's a very easy read! And it's deep and like society today. Obviously you'd rather sit around and have conversations with your television walls like Montag's wife
41.
Comments:
First of all, it's either "Remembrance Of Things Past" or "In Search Of Lost Time", not "In Remembrance Of Things Past". And this one has two achievements of being the greatest and the most boring novel ever written.
42.
YOU ARE NOT LIVING INDEPENDENTLY AND YOU ARE NOT SEPARATING YOURSELF FROM SOCIETY!
43.
Basiccaly this book is just describing different species of fish, and not a whole lot of action.
Comments:
I read the whole thing in third grade and I didn't get bored one bit so don't know what all of you are complaining about. I found it quite interesting.
I'm reading this at the minute. I do agree that it is a LOT of naming fish species, but I'm compelled by the escape attempt and if it comes off, or if Arronax breaks off from Conseil and Ned and stays on board (I think he might. He seems reluctant to go)
It's EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somehow, I get the feeling that if it's not in comic-book form; you will find it boring.
A book doesn't need action to be interesting. I found this book absolutely fascinating in middle school, and it wasn't the abridged version either.
I partly disagree.
True, there are a few boring chapters where hes just listing marine life, but there are some very exciting parts, too.

The book may have been boring, but the musical is really cool!!
The most boring book I ever read, and Victor's philosophical and sociological musings are so juvenile. He knows nothing about the world.
Les Miserables my 17 year old sister always wanted to watch it! It was so sad and it's such a good story also a good movie.
46.
Comments:
Yes, I am reading this in TAG right now, and I believe that it should be at the top of the list. It is very drawn out, uses too much description, and overall has no action. Somehow, this book made being enslaved by another ship sound like a poem... It is not bad, but most definitely not good by any means.
47.
Ok, so a lot of classic stories come out of this epic. But those classic stories--maybe a sentence each, at least. Most of the book is not worth the backache you'll get lugging it around.
Comments:
It's a good book, it just suffers from being taught very poorly in 8th and 9th grade English.
This is a fantastic read, an excellent book. But make sure you get the translation by Fagles. It will make a huge difference. The first few pages probably won't do much for you, but after you get into the book just a little bit, you won't be able to put it down. The Illiad is a tough read and can be boring at times - but not the Odyssey.
No. This book was great. I enjoyed it a lot and have reread it.
If you can't do the prose, get the audiobook. Best adventure stories of all time.
are you kidding me?! Odysseus is such a badass. i guess this is opinion. but i think that the odyssey is sweeeet. if you can get through the prose i guess.

I really didn't like Holden Caulfield. What a whiny good for nothing dweeb. I was hoping halfway through the book we'd find out he was dead or something, no such luck. He only ended up in the loony bin!
The Catcher in the Rye is one of the best books of all time. At first, it seems extremely boring. But coming from the prospective a rebellious youth, the book makes all of the sense. 10/10. Best book ever.
it was boring the first time i had to read it for class but then i got in school suspension and it was the only thing in the cube i was stuck in so i read it. about mid way through though everything clicked and it started getting interesting and now i love it.
I nominated A Farewell to Arms for this list, but Catcher in the Rye would probably be my 2nd-place book. To me, the book was just a load of nonsense that seemed like a series of completely detached, irrelevant events. It felt like the book had no real point.
I don't understand why some people think Catcher in the Rye is boring. I absolutely loved it.
this was a BRILLIANT book. It shouldn't even be in the top 200. let alone top 30 like it is right now...
This is not boring man!!! Very different...From a youth's perspective..this is good work...
49.
Katniss Everdeen is the worst main character possible in a science fiction book like The Hunger Games.

Must rank as one of the best novels ever written. What a feat of imagination. I pity you if you cannot appreciate it. One ofthe best artistic and aesthetic experiences of my life, it has really enhanced my existence. Nothing else in literature has quite managed to do that and I've read a lot in Eglish and foreign-language literature
This is a great book and should be on the list of greatest books ever!
I found Fellowship of the Rings and easy read and it was entertaining and loved it but the other 2 books was just boring, long and confusing. I eventually finished it just so i can say i HAD read them but never again i say never again!
I thought enjoyed the Hobbit more, but these books were still awesome...no way where they boring...the Silmarillion maybe
the movies were great! but only because they reminded me a little bit of the book...
I honestly couldn't finish these books. They were so incredibly boring... Actually, I also thought the movies were boring, so maybe I'm just missing something here.
To me it just felt like there was a good story hidden somewhere in there but that it was down somewhere beneath pointless description of plants and animal life. I understand the need to establish a believable setting and all, but goddamn, that just KILLED the books to me. Somehow this series ranks below "The Bluest Eye", "Heart of Darkness", "Great Expectations" and other such reads.
I understand and appreciate its impact upon our fantasy writing and society in general. I obviously just don't 'get' it.
WHAT?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? It's amazing!!!!! One of the best books I ever read!
Now this is the biggest joke. Not a good joke. Lord of the Rings boring? Absolutely no. I'm glad Harry Potter isn't in the list. Harry Potter is the most interesting and engaging series I've ever read (only the first four books).
51.

Yes! Very boring. Hero not worth rooting for bleak message. Joseph Conrad was a messed up dude.
I hated this book and the movie, too. It was as hard to sit through Apocolypse Now as it was to read the book. Because it was so short I tortured myself and finished the book.
It's such a short book, less than 100 pages, but it feels so long. I can kinda appreciate it's message now, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
52.
By audiobook, seriously, one hour discussing what a dead man sitting in a chair looks like. Poor, poor, Clifford, Poor, old Hexabah.

for some its their relligion dont just do stuff who made this list btw it isnt terrible at all
The greatest book ever. Top entertaining, top true, top actual, top breathtaking, top serious.
I have read the bible in about seven months, and
I'm only thirteen. That due to the case that I don't really have much to do.
If you use this logic then you might as well not read any fiction.
I mean, come on! I barely finished Genesis after 1 year, I mean, COME ON!
They should make a movie or TV show about some parts it would be really cool and people don't believe would probably watch to just because it would be awesome.
The Bible isn't the biggest book the record is held by some other one that is like a half meter long or something you will have to look on Guinness world records website it'll be there.
The Bible Is God's word in action!!!!
I'm ten and i have read sixteen books!!!
They are the following: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum,Matthew, Mark,Acts, Titus, and Revelation. Read John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The Bible is like Iron Man, but it is real!!!!!!
first of all you need to shut up if it wasnt for god you wouldnt even be here... you churlish hlaf faced botch... :(
The Bible is the most amazing book ever written... To be written by 40 different authors and never contradict itself obviously prooves something! the Bible is not boring at all! I think you need to actually read it and think about what it says before you say its "boring"
Prepare for the raging Christians...
Christians are so sensitive about the Bible these days
I guess that's why it has been printed into more languages than any other book ever written and it is a perrenial best-seller. People must love "boring" books.
why would you say that your saying that you hate harry potter and lord of the rings just because it doesn't exist doesn't make it boring its a pretty good book good advice from the comment below.
its really not boring have you ever really red it?..... its a really good read in my opinion. try to think of it as just a story at first and then if you want to think about it in a religious view.
the Bible is the biggest book ever, in every positive respect
whatever it does exist for some and its definitely not a boring book

A book about a group of people who strenuously insist on how passionate and life-affirming they are, with dozens of self-consciously staged parties, in which the characters heroically swig from bottles, smoke joints, have sex and become narcissistic, flatulent and boring.

I'll admit it did get tedious at times, but it was more depressing than boring.
A truly great read, can't understand why anyone would find this boring!
I am having to read this now for next years honors 9th grade lit. I have got through the introduction my Robert DeMott and considered scraping my eyes our. I am currently on page 4 after a week of reading this book. 4 down, like 450 more pages to go of absolute boringness....

Classic insomnia material. Sure, it's influential literature, but how many can say they've actually breezed through it?

Started off great, but it has gone down hill since the 4th book. Not unlike the TV series adaption.
62.
This is the hardest novel I have ever read. I didn't even finish the abridged version because of how the actual book messed it up for me.
63.
Absolutely hated it. Characters were not interesting or engaging. I hated Wart! I had to read it in school and did I ever rip it up on the test! It sucked. I have never read it since, which is a good indicator, if I like a book, I'll read it again.
