He's also married to Aphrodite and is more than willing to deal with Ares (the freaking god of war) when he sleeps with Hephaestus' wife. Also, without him, Zeus wouldn't have any lightning bolts, Poseidon his trident, half the gods their swords, and perhaps most importantly Apollo his chariot. That's right, Hephaestus made the sun with his hammer and forge. The only reason he isn't as popular is because the Romans hated him, since they favored Ares/Mars.
