The granddaddy of all CCG's, Magic has reigned for 15 years as the most popular game of its kind. It has set the precedent for the CCG and TCG market since its release.
Comments:
I love the game and its mechanics so much. Honestly, this is the epitome of card games.
this game has lost its taste and values those who can spend large sums of cash right on the spot. even if you wanted to buy single cards it would still be costly to your wallet, unless you have deep pockets or your parents are rich. this game used to the best but now its running itself into the ground. No game caters more to the elite players than magic the gathering and the person running The TCG has been destroying what good fun it used to be.
Mgic was the original and is the best. It had beautiful artwork on the cards, a massive amount of sets and many ways to play. This game has everything and IS #1. YGO and Pokemon are for children and little kids.
Easily the best TCG out right now. they have been doing everything right since its birth in the 90's and the game gets better with every set. the mechanics are clean and refined (unlike yugioh). The art is really something to marvel (unlike any TCG i know)
and the game fits all players style. casual, competitive and anywhere in between. MTG should be number 1.
It saddens me to see WoW TCG as the number one. I have been playing magic for 7 years and WoW can't top what Wizards has built. Magic has the most innovative Idea for a card game. 17 years strong and still unmatched.

Yet another game based on an existing property, Yu-Gi-Oh! -despite its popularity- is in a kind of gaming limbo as Upper Deck Entertainment and Konami wrangle in court over the legal rights to the game's distribution. In the meantime, the game soldiers on. But what will the future hold?
Comments:
tcg's stop being fun when a simple mechanic can mean turn 2 win over 80% of the time. as it has gone the same way as magic the gathering. with awesome beginnings and a sturdy well rounded playing style that made the game fun and now has matured into an empty shell of its former self.
Yu gi oh is the best game every but all you butt wipes that think magics better go to he11
To me yu-gi-oh is the same stuff recycled over and over.......an example is this.Six samuria special summon.....so does xx-saber,blackwing,ancient gear, and d.d.....its just the same thing recycled....but they make new cards that were the same thing as last....just reworded....magic is the best there is so far
Ahhhem.... Cardfight vanguard is second now...Magic still reigns
I play both Yu-gi-oh and magic and i really think that magic is better... I find Yu-gi-oh childish
im playing magic, pokemon but nothing compares to yugioh..its the best real time, online, offline..and the people playing are not for the competition but for fun..there is competition in fun...
this is rubbish yu-gi-oh is the best as it has millions of players competition and so much more i spent a lot of money collecting and building a good deck and i am still into it. it should be number one!!!!!!!! :)

Another game with the prodigious weight of an established property behind it, Pokemon appeals to both young and old alike. A robust organized play system helps make this game a pillar of the TCG world.
Comments:
Pokemon, while not being the most complex TCG, will NEVER get the credit it deserves as being a good TCG.
Not my cup of tea, but its a solid game with good players utilizing a lot of skill.
A blanaced, fun and structured TCG. There are 30 years between my son and I and this is something we both enjoy doing. We have pokemon parties at my house where we trade and battle each other and the ages range from elementary school to teenagers and adults.
We have our mana called, "Energy" & effects that can tie together with others in Trainers and Monster cards. This card game is broad in effect types and subtypes yet fewer in game bending rules like MTG. Maybe that needs to stop, this game can get bazarre, just keep it in the Conditions, Damage, Deck, Graveyard, hand, 5 Bench, PokePWR/PokeBDY limitations, and Energy Division. But the rules of Prizes could be changed. Great Game!
i think pokemon is by far the best tcg/ccg i have been collecting for 10 years and i still buy pokemon cards whenever i can.
Fun with other players but boring by yourself and they are fun to collect!

since its initial release the tcg has been starting to take presence in most countries as most county has their own specific language being translated into the tcg. the game is simple and its support by its own tv anime series. similar to how yugioh got started, yugioh creator as well as duel master creator has join together in creating the vanguard series.
Comments:
Always loved vanguard now even love it more due to vanguard g come out fav clan is royal paid in
I love vanguard I have link joker and shadow paladin revenger deck
Huge MtG player, in love with the yugioh manga....but cant bring myself to like the game. I wish I could.
Vanguard is one of the most unique TCGs I have ever seen. NOT another MtG clone. It is its own game, and it does it right. Created by a MtG Pro: Not just WoTC and Yugioh guys......
the card game is fairly simple and easy to get after the first match. and ruling and gameplay is significantly clear cut so no there isnt as much misread on the card effect like yugioh card text.

It's a damn shame that this game died. I loved this card game more than any other. Especially because of the fact that the same creature can have different values in stats.

Though similar in play to Magic, WoW benefits from the juggernaut of marketing synergy that is the World of Warcraft PC game. The game is simple to learn and offers millions of PC game players the opportunity to play in the World of Warcraft in a new way.
Comments:
Cloned because you need to use resourses?
C'mon, that's not a trademark of magic, both games are great.
I would say, wowtcg should be in the top 5, because its fun, offers boss fights and offers multiplay that is dinamic.
But yes, Magic is more hardcore and has a stronger player community, no doubt it's #1
WoW TCG seems like a Magic clone to me. Great for the WoW fans but I would rather Magic over WoW for a CCG.
8.
based on the movies, just fun because you have a split deck between forces of good and evil from middle-earth
9.
One of the few CCG's to survive the 1990's, Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) remains a popular game with a healthy release schedule. It is often recognized for being more complicated (and hence, more satisfying) than Magic.

An awesome roleplaying like game but without all the confusing character making, spells, books, etc. just cards. Absolutly HILARIOUS. Must get.
14.
Reappeared with virtual sets available for download by the same team of creators and developers!

this card game is fun, hard and a great game to play with friends and the show and manga are awesome.

Elements is a free online based CCG (Yes, I know, you hear free all the time and there are catches). This one doesn't have any which, for someone poor like me, is perfect. It's still fairly new but there are some forums for it and strategy guides. You can play against the AI or against other players. Players are ranked daily for the Top 50.
Comments:
All I ever heard was how good Elements is, yet playing it is slow, boring and painful. Having to earn useful cards by hours of grinding is boring and the game play is stale. Avoid.

This is a game for short times when you are bored and wanna play something.Duel Masters is a very good strategy game, but the bad part is that the game is extremely short.
Comments:
duel masters seems like another version of magic just with a little bit of change
24.
This game revolves around kung fu movies and involves a lot more thinking than magic the gathering. One of the best games i have ever played and i have played CCG's for almost 10 years
Comments:
yeah no.... Magic the Gathering is by far the most skill intensive, and in-depth thought-process requiring game out there... If you think otherwise you are simply not good enough for MTG. Go have fun with your lesser games, but quit pretending they are better then MTG, a game you are noob at.

based on books, on funny cartoon pics, but lacking of originality... is kind of a mtg:vanguard clone
