Basically every single game he has been in has been highly critically acclaimed, and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is considered the best game of all time. His various incarnations have weathered dozens of tough dungeons and obstacles, and he manages to do it while still looking cool. Nobody can beat the Hero of Time, the Hero of the Winds, and whatever else it is that he's the hero of. Oh yeah, and he's got great green clothes.

The main character of the Metal Gear franchise, he's tough, he's a clone, and he's tough as nails. The Metal Gear Solid games are all highly critically acclaimed, and even when he isn't the main character, he plays a major role. Besides, who doesn't love him and his little box?

In a lot of parts of the world, he's more recognizable than Mickey Mouse.
