Fireball Roberts
Dubbed as the first Earnhardt, Roberts was the first real Icon in nascar. teamed with the legendary "Smokey Yunick" they were a team that was unstopable. When politics got in the way from Bill France on Smokey's new invention, :"the Fuel cell", Smokey quit racing for a few years. Ironically that same fuel cell that is now standard in all cars would have saved Fireballs life a few years later.
