Best Time Travel Movies

Definitely a classic, Back to the Future is a light-hearted look at time travel, high school, how teenagers interact with and see their parents, and decisions and consequences. There is plenty of humor mixed in with a little bit of drama in this great family movie.

Visitors from the future coming back to the past to try to change their present is a fairly standard plot conceit, but Terminator took it to a new level with its terrifying killing machine and fascinating and complex story.

Bill Murray, need I say more?

This was a very well-made and generally underrated movie that gives the audience an apocalyptic view of the future while enjoying a mind-bending journey through the personal history of the main character. It's fun to watch but makes you think about personal choices and consequences too.

One of the more complex movies dealing with time issues, Minority Report is a clever commenary on many things at once: guilt and innocence, right and wrong, technology and genius, and much more. It's an interesting surface plot that also leaves you pondering the underlying themes long afterward.

Highly romantic picture savored by many women. A Christopher Reeve vehicle though his acting may not impress everyone.

Although the main plot is quite silly (i.e., a man from the future helps the protagonists bring back historical figures for a high school report so that they can eventually form a band whose music is the basis for that future society), this movie is definitely a guilty pleasure to watch. The caricatures of the historical figures of Napoleon, Socrates, Genghis Khan, and Joan of Arc interacting in modern day southern California provides more than a few laughs.
