It has often been said that J.S. Bach was the greatest composer ever known to us. Given his incredible output, his sheer technical ability and his passion tempered with his religion, his incredible employment of counterpoint and in short his sheer mastery of almost every form known to him (except Opera), he was, is and will be the best composer ever known to us.
