Fantasy Leagues are a way for groups of people to compete and demonstrate superior knowledge in a given subject. Although leagues mostly cater to sports fans, just about anything that can be measured can be made into a fantasy league.

Choose one or more different state or national lotteries. Then the league members "draft" numbers for a certain period of time. Every time a player's number is drawn for a lottery, he or she gets a point. The player with the most points at the end of a lottery "season" wins.

At the beginning of the fall season, players will draft a certain number of TV shows for their roster. You can establish a scoring system based on ratings and award nominations and wins. Mid-season replacements can be chosen based on free agent rules you establish.

Choose one or more celebrity-focused magazines or tabloids (e.g.--National Enquirer, US Weekly, People). Players in the league will draft celebrities and points are awarded each time a celebrity is featured on the cover of the selected tabloid(s). A season can last as long as you choose, most likely a year.

This one can be set up in a variety of ways. The basic premise is to draft major Universities for your rosters. Choose any number of criteria to measure, including enrollment, academic rankings, Best Party School Rankings, and athletic achievements, just to name a few.

A great league for political junkies, players can draft members of Congress and establish scoring based on bills introduced, time logged on Sunday morning news shows and presidential bids. You can even dock points for scandals or public speaking gaffes.
