This was the most sought after rookie card of the decade, and it led off the first set produced by Upper Deck.

This card has held up well over the years because 1980 sets didn't suffer near as much from overproduction as later years, and because Henderson's career has not been soiled by steroid allegations.

Fleer moved quickly to remove the 'F-word' from Ripken's bat on later print runs. When initially discovered, it created a huge demand and its value skyrocketed. Once the excitement wore off and collectors discovered there were more of these produced than originally realized, its value decreased.
