He has an uncanny ability to delve into the innate spirituality of a piece, all with a charismatic and humorous, yet focused, rehearsal etiquette. Not to mention his impeccable baton technique.

This person is not well-known internationally. His conducting works don't seem to translate well enough as other conductors. I mean I don't feel deeply as much as I would have been able to feel in other ones conducting for same music notes. Quite Over-rated one.

I can listen to the same recording by Skrowaczewski twice and form a different opinion each time. There was a depth to his music-making. His rather agitated gestures were punctuated by a lovely feeling of the space between the notes.

Ivan Fischer is a brilliant conductor like the great Hungarian conductors as Szell, Fricsay, Dorati, Solti and Reiner. He conducts well the classics Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart etc and the 20th century Bartok, Stravinsky, Mahler. In my opinion he is among the 10 best conductors today

Very accomplished conductor who produces maximum effect with minimum effort. The Tonhalle seemed to improve during his tenure.
