Yes, the leaving of Col. Blake and Trapper John.
The addition of BJ, Charles Emerson Winchester, and Col. Potter.
The defeminization of Klinger and the softening of Hotlips all coincided with the show's Jumping of the Shark.
An excellent show derailed by an agenda.
Yes Henry Blake was a great character and so was Trapper John, who also left the series early.
The day McLean Stevenson left created a void unfilled and considerably more serious than we realized at the time.
The first few years, before McLean Stevenson left, was some of the best comedy I've ever seen. Then it turned into a liberal soapbox for Alan Alda and Mike Farrell. Still one of the top ten shows in history.....

Used by Norman Lear for his bully pulpit. Lear is a misguided dolt. Toss in Rob Reiner as well.

This show crosses the line with me. If you like this sort of sacreligious, sickening humor, enjoy. As for me, I'm better than this show........
I watch the show and I do get it. It's a very clever and often hilarious but if we're talking about the best TV ever ther will be shows that voters haven't seen due to age group or indifference. It would be like dismissing great music from the last few decades purely because it doesn't get played on chart music radio.
I think it has a lot of votes because its a good show. Most the other shows on this list are not even on t.v. anymore. South Park is great ! You have to really watch the show to "get it" and the characters. There is a reason its going into its 14th season.
While this is a good show, favorite does not mean best. As for giving it so many votes so that no other shows can catch it, is a bit childish.
SOUTH PARK IS THE BEST SHOW ON T.V. BY FAR !!!!! THEY DO TELL IT HOW IT IS.... NOT LIKE ALL THE OTHER SHOWS THAT ARE AFRAID TO LAY IT ALL ON THE LINE!!!
Love it! Love it! Love it! The episodes are always timely, and they tell it like it is..Cartman rocks!

The first four series were great when they were genuinely in their late 20s but it just went on a bit too long. They were way beyond being cute or funny when they got well in to their 30s.
