QuitNet at www.quitnet.com has been on the internet since 1995. This has to be the number top free quit smoking site on the web. Brought to you by Boston University School of Public Health, QuitNet has now become a self-supporting quit smoking resource. QN has likely saved thousands of lives from tobacco abuse.

Become an EX Smoker is going against this list's criteria since it has been around less than 5 years, but, as a new kid on the block, it is free and hosted by The National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation. Never Smoke Again website is a bit hard on the eyes due to the yellow background but it is a free program that has helped many people through the years to quit smoking.

Freedom Village Forum has been on the internet since July 2002. Hosted by Network54, it offers free participation through instant posts. You have an option to join free for special features or you can post anonymously. This forum has 300 plus hits a day! Most members are long term quitters willing to share their heart felt encouragement with other potential and long-term quitters.

Quit Smoking Online.com has been online since 1996. This free online course is offered at no charge.

Around since 1999 this is a free website presented by University of California, San Diego and funded by Department of Health Services.

Blairsville Forum fondly named by members after the owner, Blair of Canada. This support board as been on the internet for more than 15 years. It allows for free participation and is offered as an extension for optional paid support services by the owner. The forum is hosted by Network54, one of the best online bulletin board hosts on the net. BV has real time posting, just like Freedom Village Forum and both are monitored daily. Unlike FV, BV requires that you have an N54 login to make a post. Reading posts is open to the public even though the owner could change this option without notice.

The Achievers List has been around in some form or other since 2001 and constantly maintained & updated by James Davis aka BubbaJames, an ex-smoker. Free, without pop-ups or ads. This list, as of 01-2011 has nearly 50 names of quitters having been quit from a few months to over 10 years! James has just recently offered members of this unique list, a limited number of anniversary pins symbolizing the quitter's freedom from smoking.

According to the website, Whyquit was started by John Polito on July 15, 1999 but Joel Spitzer appears to be the focus point of this site. WQ is filled with quit smoking resources, however, the rules of joining as a member has a catch, you MUST be quitting cold turkey and you MUST be nicotine-free for 72 hours. The WQ forum has strict guidelines and general discussion is not permitted!
